Title: Lockpicking 101

Walter Belgers
Walter Belgers is Principal Security Consultant and Partner at Madison Gurkha, a Dutch firm specialised in technical IT security. He regularly performs security audits (ethical hacking), but also gives courses (security awareness, forensics) and occasionally performs social engineering. Walter founded the Eindhoven chapter of TOOOL, the Open Organisation of Lockpickers, based in the Netherlands. During the previous club championships, he became first.

Abstract:
Lockpicking is the art and science of opening locks without the key and without force (but with consent of the owner). In the lecture, Walter will explain just why it is that picking locks is possible. He will describe the basic technique, but also pickguns and bumping. He will look into several techniques that manufacturers use to make lockpicking harder. Due to the legal status of lockpicking in Poland, a live demomstration is not possible.
